Anyone who owns a wakeboard, wake surf or inboard ski boat knows; your boat was designed for active watersports, speed and agility on the open water. The downside is that it’s a challenge to navigate through a tight marina to get gas or park in a slip, as these types of inboard engine boats typically have a single propeller and a fixed rudder. If the wind decides to pick up, or other boats passing by cause a wake, even the most seasoned boat owner will be stressed out as they try to navigate through the water without damaging their boat and other boats in the process.
Adding an aftermarket thruster is a great way to alleviate that stress, but if the installation is difficult, is it really worth it? Let’s see just how hard it is to install an aftermarket thruster from ezDrive.
The beauty of a thruster from ezDrive is just how easy it is to install. The ezDrive kit is shipped with everything needed to be installed by any marine shop or individual who is handy with tools and basic wiring. With both horizontal and vertical mounts, our specifically designed equipment packages are available for every brand of boat and include full installation instructions, plus technical support. Packages include all parts required for normal installation, with the exception of battery cables, which can be locally sourced.
You also won’t need to worry about how to position an ezDrive thruster because we will send you an actual size 3-D mock-up of the thruster, allowing you to easily visualize the placement on your boat. The base of your mock-up doubles as your drill template to ensure that your mounting holes are exactly where they need to be when it comes time to drill. Just contact us and we’ll ship one out to you pronto!
Worried about obstacles on your transom affecting the thrust and performance of your ezDrive? Our Power Flow nozzles are specifically designed to maximize ezDrive performance by concentrating water flow where it is needed most. We offer three Power Flow angle diverter options that are engineered to match your boat’s specific needs. If your boat is equipped with wave shapers, fresh air exhaust pipes and/or underwater lights, our Power Flow diverters will redirect water around these obstacles to ensure optimal thruster performance. Not sure which diverter works best for you? Don’t worry, our team of experts has that figured out and will guide you during the exploratory process.
You won’t need to worry about the maintenance of an ezDrive thruster either, as it is a completely sealed motor system requiring no service other than a routine cleaning of the exterior and periodic check of your propeller and nozzle attachments. ezDrive is designed to operate in both salt and freshwater conditions, and has been subject to a 500 hour salt spray test to ensure longevity in even the harshest of environments. Our thrusters are crafted using only the highest quality materials. For example, the housing is made of marine grade, deep anodized aluminum and special industrial composites, including waterproof sealings to prevent water penetration, reduce noise and eliminate vibration. Additionally, every thruster system is pressure tested for more than 10 PSI during the quality control process, to ensure a completely sealed system prior to shipping from our production facility.
With over 10,000 ezDrive Thrusters delivered to date, we’re confident that you’ll be satisfied with the ease of installation and the game changing control that you will gain once your ezDrive Thruster is installed on your boat. You’ll wonder how you ever lived without it!
